Privacy Policy

The App does not require you to create a personal account, sign in, or provide your name or email address. To support the optional features described in Section 3 below (referrals and the leaderboard), the App automatically generates a random, anonymous identifier for your installation. This identifier is not linked to your name, email, or any other personally identifying information, and you are never asked to type in any personal details to use it.

The App stores the following data locally on your device only:

• Your typing test history, words-per-minute, and accuracy statistics
• Your daily streak and Daily Challenge progress
• Your app settings (selected theme, practice language, test mode, and similar preferences)
• Character-level typing error counts, used to power the Weak Key Practice feature

Apart from the test results described in Section 3, none of this data is transmitted to us or to any third party. If you delete the App, the data on your device is permanently deleted.

The App includes two features — inviting friends and the global leaderboard — that store a small amount of data on our server, hosted by Supabase, rather than only on your device. This is the only data the App transmits off your device:

• Your anonymous installation identifier (see Section 1) and a randomly generated referral code
• If you redeem a friend's referral code, a record that your installation redeemed it (used only to prevent the same code or installation from being used more than once, and to grant the associated bonus)
• After each completed test, that test's results (words-per-minute, accuracy, test mode, and duration), so they can appear on the global leaderboard

These features never collect your name, email address, or any other personally identifying information unless you voluntarily choose a display name. Leaderboard entries are visible to other users of the App. Referral and leaderboard data is retained on our server for as long as your installation remains active, and is deleted upon request — see Section 10 to contact us. These features are designed to fail gracefully: if the App cannot reach the server (for example, if you are offline), the rest of the App continues to work normally and no data is lost or blocked from being typed.

If you add the Not Another Word widget to your home screen, your streak and Daily Challenge status are shared between the App and the widget using Apple's App Group storage mechanism. This data stays on your device and is never transmitted anywhere.

Not Another Word offers an optional auto-renewing subscription ("Pro") purchased through Apple's App Store using StoreKit. All payment processing is handled entirely by Apple — we do not receive, see, or store your payment card details. Apple may share limited transaction information (such as purchase confirmation) with us solely to unlock Pro features on your device. See Apple's own Privacy Policy for how Apple handles your payment information.

The App does not display third-party advertisements and does not use any advertising or analytics tracking SDK. If this changes in a future version, this Privacy Policy will be updated accordingly before that version is released, and the change will be reflected in the effective date above.

We do not sell, rent, or share any user data with third parties, because we do not collect any data beyond what is described above.

The App does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted at this URL with a new effective date.
